What is the Chase Fund?
The Chase Fund, formerly known as the Annual Fund, is our annual giving campaign that runs in conjunction with the school's fiscal year of July 1st - June 30th. A major source of operating income for the School, the Chase Fund supports everything that Chase is and does.
Why should I give to the Chase Fund?
Gifts to the Chase Fund serve as the School’s “margin of excellence” and give the School the flexibility to use these essential resources where they are most needed. In order for Chase to ensure the quality and fulfillment of the School’s mission for today’s students, we ask for active participation in the life of the school. Participation comes in different forms, but first and foremost we hope all families, alumni and friends will offer a financial gift to the Chase Fund according to their ability to give. We also encourage you to become involved by volunteering time.
Why does Chase ask for contributions instead of simply increasing the tuition?
As is the case with most independent schools, tuition does not cover the total cost of educating each student. Contributions to the Chase Fund make up the difference needed to cover the actual cost of operating the school. Augmenting tuition through charitable gifts helps keep tuition at a competitive rate and provides many important programs and improvements that are essential to our mission. It's also a way for you to receive a deduction on your income tax, to the extent allowed by law.
Why is participation important?
By demonstrating strong participation in the Chase Fund effort, outside donors, foundations and income sources are more inclined to support our School. Important to them is whether our constituency has done its part before they offer their help. Prospective students and their parents also see it as a measure of parent and alumni satisfaction.
Participation is what's important. It encourages investment and community. We ask you to give to the best of your ability and at a level that demonstrates the value placed on an exemplary education.
Do gifts of all sizes make a difference?
Yes. Last year, more than ½ of all donors contributed $100 or less to the Chase Fund. The collective difference of these donors accounted for 3% -- $330,836 of the School’s operating budget. Every gift makes a difference!
What does the Chase Fund support?
Gifts to the Chase Fund are used to support a variety of areas of campus need. In most circumstances, it is at the discretion of the Board of Trustees and Head of School to determine where your gift will have the greatest impact. Funds given to the Chase Fund immediately and directly benefit students by providing resources for the fundamentals: faculty salaries, academics, technology, athletics, visual and performing arts and every aspect of campus life.
How can I make a contribution, and is it tax-deductible?
Cash is the most common and efficient way to make a gift. Gifts of appreciated securities have beneficial tax implications. Visa, MasterCard and American Express credit cards are accepted for online gifts and processes secure transactions for these donations. Gifts can be pledged depending on the timeframe and designation. All Chase Fund gifts to Chase Collegiate School are tax-deductible based on the school's 501(c)(3) charitable status.
