Talk about a tale of two games. After an impressive offensive output at Washington Montessori with the team hanging 45 points on our opponents, the boys were quite stymied in our contest at Renbrook. Fortunately, our shut-down defense created even greater frustration for Renbrook as we held them to a single field goal until midway through the 3rd quarter. For the majority of the game, the rims in their gym seemed to have some sort of reverse gravitational pull (is there such thing as a gravitational push?) that kept all of our outside shots from finding the bottom of the net. Needing to find another way to score, our guards ratcheted up their pressure on Renbrook’s ball handlers causing several turnovers that were converted into fast break layups. A late surge by the home team caused me some slight heart palpitations, but nothing that the boys could not handle as we walked out of their gym with a 12-9 win. Happy with our second win in a row, we look forward to returning to the friendly confines of Goss for our future games.
