McTernan Centennial Library

The McTernan Centennial Library is not just the information hub for our school, it is a place with both quiet and collaborative study spaces, and the most cutting edge technology for 21 st century learners. Comfortable chairs allow our students to relax as they conduct research; engage in peer tutoring or collaborate on projects-- -and develop a love of literature and books. Thanks to a student-run innovation project, our library now offers a café with snacks and drinks. Our gifted library staff helps our students navigate through our collection of 20,000 fiction and nonfiction books and ebooks, also supplemented by a variety of additional digital sources. As the core of our school, all of our students use the library regularly.

Our Library Staff share great books with our students.  They help them develop strong reading skills, and a taste for the pure pleasure of reading.

Lower Schoolers attend for weekly library classes, which feature research instruction and “Author of the Month” storytimes. Middle Schoolers frequently come to the library to find resources for Declamations and research projects, or developing Summer Reading lists. Upper Schoolers plan programs and events through the Library Student Advisory Board, and enjoy the oasis of the quiet study areas. All of our students let their imaginations wander as they explore our vibrant collection and select books for the pure pleasure of reading.

Innovation at Chase

We’ve integrated innovation and design thinking into our traditional curriculum – and created three high and low-tech design labs on campus, providing students the knowledge and space to chart their own course in terms of their approach to a project and the outcome they produce.
