Visual Arts

A distinctive arts education is the hallmark of a well-rounded person. Our fine arts program at Chase inspires our students and fires their imaginations. We provide opportunities for the exploration and development of each child’s unique artistic potential, and for a lifelong appreciation of art.

Our diverse offerings in our arts program encompass traditional media, such as charcoal, paint, pottery and sculpture, along with modern media, such as digital filmmaking and digital photography. Chase’s art faculty are talented and established artists. These highly regarded professionals teach at all levels and provide age-appropriate artistic challenges. Art spaces on campus include two art studios, a state-of-the-art multi media studio, and a woodworking shop.

Our students become familiar with line, shape, color, value, texture, form and space. They learn art vocabulary and proper use of tools and materials. Projects and activities are designed to foster artistic growth, and include class discussion and careful examination of objects, pictures and nature, for creative inspiration. Our students learn that art opens the doors to the imagination and an innovative spirit. They are alsovisual-art-piece introduced to the works of traditional and contemporary artists, deepening their knowledge and enjoyment of art. students-making-art

Younger children build skills enabling them to judge and appreciate their own work, the work of their peers and the work of recognized artists.

  • Middle years are spent fine-tuning artistic skills and learning to prepare for public displays of their work in exhibits
  • Students in upper level art courses create original work and are self-directed rather than teacher-directed. Students who decide to pursue art beyond high school receive support from art instructors as they develop their portfolio for college admissions.
