Seniors Mary Badger and Amanda Thibault, along with manager Adela Kodra finished their careers with a fine performance. Mary pitched all 7 innings striking our 4 and allowing 6 hits on the day. Amanda Thibault finished an outstanding career at 1st base. Both of these fine players have made us proud to have them as part of our Chase team. They will be truly missed. One of the best managers, Adela will be missed for her precise scoring in our book. We also say a sad good-bye to Leah(Sparky) Kennedy who will move onto boarding school to play ice hockey.

Today Talia Marino led the Chase offense going 3 for 4 with 3 singles, 2 runs scored and 2 RBI's. Morgan Carlotto has a run batted in double and a sacrafice fly. Sam Bard went 1 for 2 with a single to right center. She also layed down a beautiful sac bunt to advance Emily Grimes. Emily added a single on the day and made a great shoe-string catch in left field. Julia Williams had a single for Chase.

Adrienne Hofmann '01 and Rachel D'Avino '01 were best friends from the time they were children until December 14th, 2012, the day Rachel tragically lost her life at Sandy Hook Elementary School while protecting the students she cared for so deeply.

As a behavioral therapist, Rachel was passionate about helping children with Autism and dreamed to one day be known for her work helping those on the Autism spectrum lead happy, successful lives. Just two days before her death, Rachel remarked, “It is my dream that you know my name as a leader in Behavior Analysis for children and adults with Autism; however, I will be thrilled if I make a few people have an easier, more enjoyable life.”

Adrienne is now working to carry on that dream by supporting Autism Speaks and co-establishing Team Rachel, which has already raised nearly $10,000 in advance of the Greater Waterbury Walk Now for Autism Speaks.

Freshmen researchers created Tagxedo designs based on the content of their papers. By importing a shape that represented their subject matter, each student was able to make a literal and metaphorical connection. "Ninth graders will use their designs to share information, field questions, and enjoy matching people to the puzzles," said Nedra Gusenburg.
