Chase Students Participate in CMEA All State Conference

April 15, 2019

From Thursday, April 11th - Saturday, April 13th, the CMEA (The Connecticut Music Educators Association) held their All-State Conference at the Hartford Convention Center.

Through audition and participation in the Southern Regional Festival Choir back in January, and successful auditions at the state level, Upper School students Margaret McGuire ’20 and Emily Segal ’21 earned spots in the All-State Treble Choir. The girls spent 3 days in Hartford working under the direction of esteemed conductor Dr. T.J. Harper to prepare a challenging and stunning program of choral music for their concert on Saturday afternoon.

On Friday, April 12th, 6th grade students Logarn Altenburger, Khachia Ben Haj-Frej, and Shannon McCormack, joined over 200 young singers from across the state to participate in the Elementary Honors Choir. They rehearsed under the baton of dynamic Children’s Choir Conductor Sophia Papoulis and gave a beautiful concert on Friday afternoon.

Throughout the convention weekend, Chase music teachers Mrs. Apland and Mr. Lyons enjoyed Professional Development workshops and proudly cheered our Chase musicians on during their rehearsals.

Congratulations Em, Maggie, Khachia, Shannon, and Logan on all of your hard work and wonderful performances!
