2012 Health & Wellness Day

On Wednesday, February 29, Chase Collegiate will host a unique Health and Wellness program in the Upper School that will provide an opportunity for students and faculty alike to explore a range of topics related to personal well-being. The goal is to help students gain new information and perspectives that will help them be advocates for their own health. This year’s program is unique in a couple of ways, explains Dr. Gus Haracopos, Chase’s school counselor and a coordinator of the Wellness Day Program, “It’s the first time we’re holding a full-day program on this subject, and the school’s decision to devote the time conveys a strong message about the importance of wellness in our students’ lives. In addition, the roster of presenters includes a mix of outside experts, school faculty, parents, and student leaders, ensuring that participants will hear a wide range of voices.”

The program will include sessions on body image, eating well, vegetarianism, STD awareness, the successful athlete as well as yoga practices and clinics on goal setting and time management. “Our Upper School students are busy, talented and hardworking,” says Haracopos. “They devote huge amounts of time and energy to their academics, athletics, arts, service, and other pursuits. This day provides them a space to think about how they can live happy, healthy lives as students and beyond.”
