Director of Innovation

Director of Innovation

Chase Collegiate School, one of the oldest independent co-educational day schools in Connecticut, is seeking a dynamic and engaging educator to lead our innovation commitment. Chase is a forward-thinking institution located in Waterbury just off route 84 and 8.  Chase enrolls 200 students in grades Pre-K through 12th grade.

The Director will provide leadership, inspiration, and support in implementing innovative approaches into our program. The person will work directly with faculty and students to develop ways to enhance our curriculum through thoughtful and deliberate methods. She or he will help realize the School’s commitment to being an industry leader as it pertains to innovation and 21st century skills.

Responsibilities:

  •     Foster the common use of innovative language and approaches across divisions and departments.
  •     Work with the administration to develop a strategic innovation vision for the School.
  •     Seek out and pursue opportunities to partner with other schools/organizations to create authentic projects and partnerships.
  •     Manage our Innovation Spaces on campus. Identify/lead opportunities for teachers and students to use these spaces to complement and enhance their curricula.
  •     Help create a spiraling Innovation curriculum that can be documented, assessed, and integrated throughout our Pre-K through 12th grade program
  •     Team player who exhibits confidence in collaborating with teachers as well as leading the overall program.  
  •     Creating and teaching innovation courses.

Qualifications:

  •     Enthusiastic about teaching
  •     Master’s degree preferred
  •     Experience with Design Thinking methodology
  •     Cross-divisional expertise with Pre-K through 12th grade students and teachers
  •     Self-directed
  •     Comfortable working both independently and as a team.
  •     Facile with current technological tools and innovative approaches to teaching.

Marketing & Communications Specialist

Goal:    

Utilize digital and print marketing communication platforms to present and promote Chase Collegiate School as the ideal choice for PreK – grade 12 independent school education in the Greater Waterbury CT region.

Responsibilities:

Creation/Collaboration/Implementation

  • Create distinct and branded, customer centric advertising and place in target markets
  • Produce and distribute weekly All-School electronic bulletin
  • Generate website content & update photos that engage prospective families and provide current families the resources they need
  • Research and write athletic and news releases; follow up as needed to garner media placement
  • Collaborate with Admissions to create engaging admission conversion experiences and promotional materials for prospective families
  • Collaborate with Digital Communications Specialist to strategically develop story angles that tell the story of Chase
  • Collaborate with Multimedia Art Teacher to produce promotional videos for the School.

Communications Approval/Support

  • Review, edit and approve school publications, communications and products before production/distribution
  • Share news stories and other communications with the school community that are distributed to the media and other targeted audiences
  • Provide communications and marketing support to all areas of the School
  • Maintain and adhere to an internal style/branding guide
  • Marketing Communications Planning
  • Schedule, design and manage paid print and digital advertising
  • Create and manage tactical marketing communications plan
  • Maintain emergency contact cell phone, email and phone communication lists
  • Maintain Faculty and Staff Directory on website and family directory on app


Competencies

  • Strong writing and editorial skills; ability to write and present powerfully and professionally and to communicate comfortably, articulately and passionately with students, colleagues, and external constituents
  • Possess solid general computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Google Drive products
  • Light skills in HTML preferred, Finalsite experience a plus
  • Ability to work independently while operating effectively and collegially within a team environment
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Flexible and able to multi-task
  • Creative and optimistic with an ability to make decisions and identify solutions

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • One to two years marketing communications or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience with Adobe Photoshop and In Design.
  • Prior Press release experience

Athletics

Over the past several years, we have won numerous league championships and 10 New England championships in the sports of lacrosse, cross country, basketball, softball, ultimate Frisbee and soccer. We continue to strive to compete at the highest level of competition, and are a member of two leagues: the Connecticut Independent School Athletic Conference and the Housatonic Valley Athletic League.  Chase Collegiate School is recognized for its competitive athletic program and commitment to sportsmanship. Chase is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated coach. He or she should have an advanced knowledge of women's lacrosse. Candidates should be positive and supportive in their coaching styles. 

The position will start at the beginning of March and run through the last week in May.  Practices will be Monday through Friday afternoons with games on most Wednesdays and Saturdays.
