Learning through Drama
One of the distinctive highlights of the Lower School is an annual musical play, written by our teachers and inspired by a theme or subject our students learn in the classroom. Recent plays include “Looking Backward to Look Forward: 150 Years of Chase Collegiate School” and “Living Green in Chase Forest.”
These plays bring history, science or nature vividly to life through humor and song. Our students say that they passed a test in the Middle School because they remember singing about the subject while in the Lower School. While honing their dramatic skills, our students also build strong self-confidence, expand their public speaking abilities and experience the joy that is brought forth through dramatic exploration.
