Middle School & Lower School P.E.
Physical education plays an integral role in our students’ development, self assurance and ability to meet challenges. Our Lower School physical education classes are invigorating and enjoyable, designed to improve students’ cognitive, motor, affective, and physical development, through a wide range of activities. Concepts of body awareness, space awareness and effort are developed, as students build competence and confidence in their ability to perform a variety of motor skills (locomotive, non-locomotive and manipulative). Our students learn the importance of fair play and sportsmanship, as they expand their athletic skills in a supportive and spirited environment. The physical education program in the Middle School stresses the development of skills, the pleasure of physical activity, the benefits of teamwork, and the importance of good sportsmanship. “P.E.” time is an opportunity for grades six to eight to learn to work together.
Lower School Physical Education meets four days out of a seven day class cycle.
Students from grades six to eight are required to take Physical Education if they do not participate in Middle School Athletics. Classes meet three out of a seven day cycle.
There is no physical education requirement or offerings for Upper School students.
