Music

Chase has a rich music curriculum and program which includes the Concert Band, Chorus, Chamber Ensemble, Jazz Band and Rock Band. The music lab in St. Margaret's Hall offers computer technology for music composition and theory classes. Grand pianos in the Chase Drawing Room, Giguere Recital Hall and Smith Cornerstone Room are available for chorale practice, private music lessons and small recitals.

Students develop musical literacy through a variety of rhythm and note-reading activities. School concerts in the winter and spring give students experience performing before an audience and prepare them for evening concerts and community engagements. Qualified students participate in state and regional competitions.

Choral students analyze, rehearse, and perform a wide range of choral pieces. The chorus appears in a variety of performances throughout the year and exchange concerts with other area schools. They also participate in workshops enhancing vocal techniques, making this a highly visible and active chorus program.

Lower School Music

The Lower School music classroom is place to sing, play, and move to music! Students are exposed to a variety of musical styles and learn to compose and accompany themselves on classroom Orff instruments, including xylophones, glockenspiels, hand drums, rhythm sticks, and tambourines.

Students share songs at weekly Meetings and perform throughout the year, including Grandparents and Special Friends’ Day, the All-School Holiday Concert, and class curricular musicals.

Lower School Choir

Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 are invited to participate in the Lower School Choir. The students are introduced to the foundations of healthy vocal technique and choral singing as they learn a variety of repertoire to be showcased at various school performances.

Lower School Band

Students in Lower School Band have the opportunity to learn flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, baritone horn, trombone and percussion. The students perform in the All-School Holiday Concert and the Spring Concert.

Students may take private music lessons on campus at an additional charge. The lessons cater the student's schedule and skill level.
